While Halloween is behind us, the spookiness continues with our November 2020 ArtWanted! feature. Our friend Daniel Karner has been busy working on ‘The House’, a passion project in the truest sense of the word: combining his lifelong love for 3D, gaming and classic horror, Daniel is putting in the extra hours in the evenings and on the weekends to create his own game. Following the story of a realtor tasked with selling an old boarding house, ‘The House’ is shaping up to recapture the wonderfully eerie feelings of a scary movie night.
In our interview, Daniel recalls early inspirations, the terror of the unseen and reflects on the joys and woes of game development.

3D Artist of the Month November 2020: Javier Pedreño

Company, halt! Today, we salute Javier Pedreño, our November 2020 3D Artist of the Month. A passionate character artist and movie lover, Javier recently underwent an extensive online drill at Think Tank Training Center and is currently deployed at animation company Leo Sanchez Studio. For his demo reel, he went above and beyond in recreating a seemingly innocuous sketch of a WW2 soldier by famous Spanish director Sergio Pablos. Having completed boot camp, he is expected to climb the ranks quickly.
In our interview, Javier talks inspirations, the development process of his favorite character and overcoming perfectionism. At ease!

In 2018, we crowned Mikhail our 3D Artist of the Year, and despite working a full-time job, he has not slowed down a bit! His latest personal project tells a powerful story of liberation through a familiar Sci-Fi lens. Consisting of staggering number of images and an innovative making-of video, ‘Sisters‘ is yet another shining example of visual story-telling and testament to Mikhail’s outstanding artistic ability.

Her hyper-realistic depiction of a Javanese puppeteer infuses a venerable tradition with cutting edge CG craftsmanship, earning her a prestigious Gnomon Best of Term awards among other well-deserved accolades.
In our interview, Kasita talks about cultural heritage, her “Second Life” as a 3D artist and the difficulties of obtaining a work permit amidst a global pandemic.
