The beloved lion King returns. Mufasa explores the King's rise and legacy in theaters on December 20, 2024!

Disney's reign continues with the December release of "Mufasa: The Lion King," an animated prequel and sequel to the 2019 remake of the classic film.

Directed by Barry Jenkins and featuring an all-star cast, the film promises a heartwarming and epic journey into the life of the beloved Mufasa. He delves into the past, revealing the experiences that shaped him into a wise king audiences know and admire.

The story follows Mufasa's unlikely friendship with Taka, a young lion of royal blood, and their adventures as they navigate the dangers and wonders of the savanna.

The film also bridges the gap between Mufasa's reign and his son Simba's.  Simba, voiced by Donald Glover in his reprise role, grapples with his legacy while raising his own cub, Kiara (voiced by Beyoncé's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in her film debut).  John Kani also returns as the wise mandrill Rafiki, who bridges the Pride Lands' past, present, and future.

With photorealistic animation and an original score featuring contributions from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Pharrell Williams, "Mufasa: The Lion King" will be a visual and auditory feast.  The film's December 20th release will create a new generation of fans and bring back the love for this timeless story.
