ChaosTV - What’s New In Chaos Vantage 2 Update

Chaos Vantage 2 continues to push the boundaries of real-time rendering, and the latest update presents some new features and enhancements for 3D artists and designers. Read the article, watch the video, and stay informed!

This overview explores the highlights of Update 6 and shows how these features can elevate your workflow.

1. V-Clipper Tool: Render-Time Cutouts Made Easy.
The new V-Clipper feature allows you to create real-time cutouts in your scenes, improving creative control without complex geometry manipulation. You can use V-Clipper in various modes, including mesh-based cutouts for complicated designs. Exclusion sets allow for isolating specific objects, making it an even more powerful tool.

2. Subsurface Scattering with Random Walk Mode.
Subsurface scattering (SSS) has been significantly upgraded, now featuring a random walk mode for more realistic light penetration. Adjusting depth and scattering colors can achieve photorealistic textures, which is especially useful in organic objects like skin or translucent materials. The depth customization also allows you to control color distribution within the object for several lighting effects.

3. Enhanced Opacity Controls for Semi-Transparent Objects.
Update 6 brings full opacity support to semi-transparent materials, making it possible to achieve smooth gradient transitions. Stochastic opacity blending creates realistic visuals without complex clipping artifacts, as in cloud and smoke effects, helping you achieve more atmospheric sense in your scenes.

4. Phoenix Ocean Texture Integration.
Ocean simulation is much easier now with the Phoenix Ocean Texture, making it so simple to add realistic water surfaces. You can also adjust wave patterns, steepness, and animation settings. The built-in scalability is really valuable in small water bodies or large ocean scenes.

5. VR Controller Support.
This update introduces VR controller support, bringing a new layer of interactivity and control for VR users. VR controllers give the ability to navigate scenes and quickly adjust.

6. New Wireframe Overlay and Camera Enhancements.
The new wireframe overlay visualizes model structure, instrumental in dense scenes, and cameras are now independent objects for greater flexibility in movement and placement within the viewport for more intuitive adjustments in composition.
